Dear Summit Academy Students, Staff and Parents,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year. I am very excited to serve all of you in my first year as your principal. Last school year was a most unusual and unprecedented one on many levels; academically, athletically, pandemically, and as a school community. As interesting as the last school year was for SAHS, the 2021-2022 school year has the potential to be outstanding. To do this, your continued help, leadership and support will be needed at our great high school!
Looking back at our previous school years we have much to celebrate and be thankful for! Our staff, students and parents continue to help our school to be successful in many ways. The time, talents, and energies committed to our interactive and on-line experience by all was awe inspiring. With little preparation time and adjusting along the way, we were able to complete the year successfully and it will be one for the record books. A part of history not soon to be forgotten.
Our staff will continue to engage in the review and revision of our instructional programs to fit the needs of all students to perform at the highest levels in the classroom. We will use the growth, data, and experiences we learned through this digital process to better utilize our canvas and virtual classroom experiences and look for areas to increase student achievement in the classroom.
The 2021-2022 school year will bring many more opportunities for success and adventures in athletics, activities, and academic pathways for producing growth and preparation for future aspirations for our student body. Our athletes continue to be successful at the highest levels representing SAHS this year with teams consistently reaching the playoffs in boys football, girls and boys basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball, track and field, golf, and swimming. Our Cheer team is working hard and building upon successful years of hard work and sacrifice. Our schools HOSA and Debate programs continue to be recognized nationally and consistently place in the top tiers of our state. Our student council does an outstanding job of cultivating and instilling tons of school spirit and continue to encourage our Bear Nation Pride by planning and implementing fantastic dances and assemblies. I am proud to say that our SAHS student council, student body, and staff are very involved in our local community with our “Bears Give Back” supporting the Nixon Strong Foundation in raising funds and awareness for that great program. What a thrill it is for all of us to engage in this Bear Pride throughout the school year!
We will be introducing several new staff members as well as additional opportunities with programming and clubs to give more opportunities for our students to achieve and experience within our ranks. I am looking forward to an amazing school year in service to our students, parents, and community.
Best to you all,
Ms. Grimmer, SAHS Principal
